In diesel engines with an installed DPF filter, the oxidation catalyst plays an important role in the process of passive filter regeneration. Installing an oxidation catalyst in systems with SCR catalyst, affects the efficiency of nitrogen oxides reduction due to the oxidation of some NO to NO2 oxides. The ratio of these two compounds has a significant impact on the efficiency of the SCR process.
